1. THE WEDDING CAKE
These days Wedding Cakes are priced extremely high, most often they are also extremely elaborate works of art that are charged at a fair price for the work and creativity involved BUT please remember after the 'oohs & aahs' when they enter the reception and see the cake, by the time it is cut and served 90% of guests don't eat their portion!! So if you wish to have a work of art for your Wedding Cake then NEVER order dessert on your menu. Make the cake dessert.
2. THE WINE LIST
Please remember that even if you have a fine palate and enjoy your wines, many of your guests are average consumers and won't tell the difference! Select a quality champagne for arrival, when they are fresh and they will appreciate it. For the reception keep the costs down, as once good food and atmosphere kick in, the alcohol flows and no-one truly appreciates the quality of the liquid! A nice tip is to have us order direct for you and create a 'wedding label' with your names on it and therefore the guests don't know what the wine is!
3. A RECEPTION WITH A VIEW
This is all very wonderful IF you are having a daytime reception! However so many couples choose an expensive waterside venue because of its beauty, forgetting that once they are seated and night falls you will see only blackness!
If you want to enjoy the location have an 11am ceremony and lunch or a 2pm ceremony and early dinner (allowing the guests to kick on afterwards if they want elsewhere - at their cost!). Otherwise spend some money on outside decorations with lanterns, candles, flares, etc. |
